Every time I'm in the car with someone and I tell them this, they make a weird face or tell me I'm creepy. Now I get it. It sounds kind strange to essentially state that you enjoy spying on people, but really I'm just interested in gawking at how awesome the apartments are. I also think it is kind of fun to picture the lives of those who reside there. I don't limit my peering passion to just the West Side Highway. I love walking around the city (any city, really) streets at dusk and checking out how people live . I know someone out there kind of thinks that this little activity is fun, too! Watch out, people... I may be coming to a window near you! JK.
Alright, moving on to less random thoughts. My week has been great aside from the slightly disappointing recipes I chose to make for dinner this week. You know when you are really excited about making a particular dish, and then it lets you down? Well, this has happened to me twice this week already! BUMMER. It's not that the recipes were bad per say, they just weren't really what I expected. Both of the recipes I tried were for side dishes (you know that's my fave!), so it wasn't as though I botched a whole meal. I ate both of the dishes for dinner and then put them over my salad the following day, but I wouldn't make either again.
Monday Dinner: Braised Kale and grilled skimps with a bulgur wheat and freekah pilaf
For those of you who have been reading the bloggy for a while, you know how I love my overnight oats! I had them yesterday morning with a big plop of sunflower seed butter mixed in. NOM. NOM.NOM.
Tuesday Night Dinner: I made this Spicy Yogurt Pan Fried Cauliflower from Running to the Kitchen and I served it with a sweet potato and grilled cod(not shown). I liked the spicy and garlicky flavors in this dish, but there was just something missing. The original recipe calls for nutritional yeast which apparently gets crispy when sautéed. I didn't have nutritional yeast(nor did I know what it was) so I just eliminated it (probably not smart without substituting something else!). I think next time I would probably use panko bread crumbs in the recipe to give it little crisp. I might give this one another try.
You all know I love using Chobani as a substitute for heavier ingredients when I can. It also makes a great "sour cream" for sweet potatoes! Even PJ was pleased with the replacement!
I used the cauliflower over my salad today which had a whole bunch of chickpeas, avocado, celery, tomatoes, greens, and goddess dressing. I actually liked the cauliflower concoction better cold!
Note** I wanted to just throw out there that by no means do I post EVERYTHING I eat on this blog. I snack about 3x per day between meals and I don't usually feature those unless they are something interesting (which they usually aren't!).
Random pic of the dress I wore to work yesterday which was totally inappropriate given the briskness in the air! This is one of my fave dresses(from ZARA) because of the little scoop back. I love dresses and tops with low backs! Oh well...even though I was chilly, I'm glad I got to wear it 1x this year!
Love a cup of tea when I arrive home from work. Yogi Tea is not only delicious, but each one features an inspirational musing!
Yes! This would be my first Honey Crisp apple of the season! Happy Gal ;)
On the exercise front, I would like to share with you a workout I tried and really enjoyed today. I have said before that I don't run much anymore because I finally admitted to myself (after 9 years!) that I don't like it very much. I found this walking treadmill workout on another blog I LOVE, Sweet Tooth Sweet Life. Check it out here : 40 minute walking mixed interval workout
I will definitely be repeating this workout. The time FLEW (that could be due to the Gossip Girl marathon I was watching on the style network...Gossip Girl season 1 was so good! What happened?!), and I was pretty schweaty at the end!
Ok my friends! I have to finish up dinner and get ready for manana! I have a 7:30 breakfast presentation in the Bronx! I will be injecting coffee into my veins.
XO
Sarah
